Manufacturing Industry -- Leo's Dancewear
Corporate Profile:
In 1924 Leo Harris founded a shoe manufacturing company in Chicago Illinois. Today, Leo's Dancewear produces high quality dancewear, costumes, body wear and shoes in a state of the art facility on the northwest side of Chicago. The company's products are sold under the Leo's name throughout the United States. They are a leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor to the dance, sports and entertainment industry.
The Challenge:
Owner Glenn Baruck was looking for areas within his company to lower expenses so as not to raise the prices of his goods.
The Process:
Bill Schloss, an attorney and consultant with Lower Electric, had contacted Glenn and informed him that he was eligible to participate in Com Ed's deregulation program. Glenn faxed his most recent electric bill to Lower Electric so they could analyze it for potential electric savings. Being an independent agency representing the many electrical suppliers in Illinois, Lower Electric requested bids from several of the suppliers they represent. Three days later the results came in.
The Solution:
Leo's Dancewear could realize an $11,322.01 annual savings in their electric expense, which would add directly to the bottom line. Hesitant at first to make a change that would be disruptive to his business and skeptical that the savings promised would be realized, Glenn called references of other companies in his industry that had already chosen an alternative utility supplier. All had experienced lower electric bills and a seamless transition in billing and service. Glenn gave the approval and within two months he received a single statement electric bill exactly as promised.
"Changing to an alternative supplier was a sound business decision that added profit straight to my bottom line. Using Lower Electric and their many resources to get the lowest price maximized my savings and made it easy for me so I could concentrate on my own business."
